Slip Bobbers
« on: Dec 08, 2007, 12:52 PM »
Hi everyone, newbie here- just wondering if anyone has problems with slip bobbers staying at the depth you first set it at? It seems like when I get something on other than small sunfish (bigger crappie, northern, walleye, etc. the depth goes shallower then I have to consantly check depth. I made sure to tighten the slip-bobber knot tight. If anyone has any solutions it would greatly be appreciated.
thanks

You have to make sure the knot is not catching on the rod tip or in the reel when you bring it up .  Sometimes this is the culprit to the problem, first hand experiance.  Other than that the only thing I would think would be the knot be tight, but you said you checked that.  Just watch when you reel it up and see if the knot appears to move when it passes the rod guides or the bail on the reel when you reel it up.

Also, make sure your string is wet when you tighten it.
