still no ice
« on: Jan 02, 2011, 11:06 AM »
Not looking good for our hardwater season, I was really pumped this year too, bought a new augur this year and not sure it will see gas. It's gonna take a deep freeze to save it  :'(

There were a number of boats on Silver Lake yesterday.  One boat with an outboard going around in circles braking open the entire center of the lake. They then spent the rest of the day trolling.  Ice by the launch area looked about 1.5" thick.  Not looking good my new ice shelter, buddy heater and sled are sitting in the basement praying for cold weather.

I expect I will be on the ice shortly with the change coming....some south mountain lakes made it through the recent warm spell with nearly 2 inches and its turning cold so another few days and it should be game on.

Long range temps look good, 10 days might do it.

I'm glad to hear you guys finally have ice! I think that since N.S. is fairly new in icefishing you guys could pull some nice fish out. I'll be watching for you guys on the board. GOOD LUCK!

I am going to try Silver Friday afternoon, will report back on conditions.  I am afraid the boats last weekend acting like ice breakers may have lengthened the required freeze time for Silver.

Silver Lake Friday, 3.5" of ice.  We fished it without any problems, but please be careful out there.
