Hey ed what does the fishing forecast look like for Volga this winter?  Have the crappies finally grown up to decent keeper size?or still small?  :)

I have been fishing it for 4 years. The size never really changes

The lake needs a major predator like Musky, Northern Pike or a major ice fishing tournament where you weigh everything and up the limit to 50 or 100. High population and low predation has stunted the fish.

Yesterday there were 2 tents on the south end by the dam, didn't go out to talk to them but north from the boat ramp was spotty open spots.

On Sunday the 18th there was about 10-12 inches.  I ran my four wheeler around in search of fish.  Can't give you a more recent report.

Fished Friday and Saturday.  Friday I had my limit of crappies and a 9.5" perch in two hours.  Saturday was SLOWER.  4 of us fished for 3 hours and kept 21 crappies and a gill.  Most the gills are 7-9", but they need to be kept.  Friday my limit of crappies and the perch filled a quart sized freezer bag so no complaints here!

Where are you fishing? Head to the handicapped dock brush all around there. I was just there yesterday and limited out.

Crappies are all 6-9".  Good luck finding bigger ones.  They need to be cleaned out.  With that being said PLEASE TAKE A LIMIT WITH YOU EVERY TIME YOU FISH THIS LAKE!!!!

Ashamed somewhat but I was with my 85 year old dad and he wanted fish. I knew there had been a problem. So we did.

Heading there today, to check it out. Hope to find some bigger crappie but one old guy told me to take my limit clean the biggest ones and freeze the little ones whole and in spring put one under every tomatoe plant in garden.
