My sled I built a few years ago. This think works great as a freighter and I even put an eye bolt on the back of it to hook my jet sled XL in tandem. Comes in handy for sled in camps.

(Image removed from quote.)

That's my fully loaded calving sled.  I can stand the Clam 2000s on edge there if I need to.  I want to make a bit of a stand for my powerhead so that I can rearrange things a bit.  I've also been meaning to do something like the eye bolts VC used on his.  There are a few different sizes.

The beauty of these is that they are extremely tough and are made to be hauled around farm yards (hence gravel and such).  Now, mine hasn't seen as many miles as Slipbob's Jet Sled, I'm sure, but it will outlast most of the other plastic type sleds out there.

Another thing my wife thought of that we may try is applying ski wax to the raised "runner" areas to help it slip a bit better since I have trouble leaving the kitchen sink at home and it gets a bit heavy to pull.

Hey I was wondering if you could tell me where ,what brand or anything about the calving sleds its just what  I want but I can't find 1 or even anything about them

                                                                Thanx

Nice sleds guys.

There is lots of great ideas on here Mainehazmt.
Don't think about it too hard, just have a basic plan with the equipment that you use.
Start from the bottom and work your way up. You will be surprised how things come together.
Remember safety first and take your time.
The skills will follow.

I will be posting pics of my sled soon.
Fish on.

Here is the sled I built to get my gear and my new shanty out on the ice.

The Sled Project.

Just waiting for the workweek to end to go and find some fishable ice.

Here's the second generation sled part B in use on the ice.

I have used it six times this year already. Needs a table for the stove and lunch.
I am working on that issue.

She ain't real pretty but is very functional. Black color builds heat.  Seat is a
cooler that keeps lunch and bait from freezing so quick, and provides a place
to hide all my trophy sized trout.

Auger rides on green deck, spud goes on rack on the back side. Bucket with
stove and coffee pot rides on top as does the other bucket filled with tip ups.

Inside the cooler is lunch on the way out and with the bag of fish on the way
back in. About 50 pounds after the buckets, auger, and bag full of fish are
unloaded. Pulls like a dream.

Cross country skis, cooler, plywood, and 1" pvc pipe for rod holders, plywood
sheet, assorted scrap 2 x 4's, and assorted length dry wall screws.
Oh, and a little left over paint.
Enjoy.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
