IGL snow cover
« on: Jan 22, 2018, 07:07 PM »
Can anyone give any reports on how much snow is on the ice in the IGL area?

News tonight here in Sioux Falls said they got 12” of snow. We didn’t get quite that much south of Sioux Falls at my place but I had some nice drifts thanks to the wind. I had to plow with the atv and it was wet heavy snow. More like a March spring snow.

Hoping it blew off the lakes or it’s going to make a mess of the fishing.

I hope there is 20 inches on the lakes so all the guys with Rangers and permanent shacks go to South Dakota.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

I haven't been over fishing the IGL's in years but when I did get over there some good
fellows would plow there way out if the snow was deep.I was wondering if that still
happens? I don't have a sled or wheeler. Thanks for any info

We fished West O Jan 24th-28th. Snow cover was a little deep on the 24th, but by the 28th it was pretty packed down. We stayed away from East and Spirit. We heard access onto Spirit was bad and we wanted to drive trucks out to our spots.

Was the fishing any good last weekend?  Headed up Friday, so any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Fished Spirit Lake last Friday and Saturday, only one access point that was at anglers bay resort. Fishing on Friday was slow and only small perch,Saturday slow also but did get 10 keepers , hope this helps.

West wasn't horrible. Nothing crazy and there were a lot of lookers that would chase the jig. Like normal, sunrise and sundown were by far the best for us.
