I wish. The use of live baitfish is prohibited in Quebec, dead or frozen bait only legal Between Dec 20 and Mar 31. :'(

Fri. Sat. Sun. Thanksgiving weekend. Here in Sullivan county. 4”. Lots of perch, all small. Fished shallow weeds. Didn’t want to go out farther/deeper. The 4” was the ice not the fish.

Socialism hurts fishermen. That's a shame. Time for a new province?

2017 I gave up on the last two days of MZ and we were able to sneak out up at Braddock Bay.  About 3" of ice and a handful of perch - not a bad day.  Before that it was right around Christmas down at Case or Harwood one of the years when they weren't buried with snow.

Looking forward to the season getting underway!

LOL. Quebec is probably the most outdated in North America when it comes to fish and wildlife, along with all out other backwards idiosyncrasies. At least we get to use multiple lines and dead bait during most of the winter.

As much as I love ice fishing, if I did have to move out of the province, it would likely be to somewhere that has palm trees and big game saltwater species   @)

If you were asking me, it was in the Laurentians, North of Montreal. Probably a good 10 inches up there by now, but haven't been back since then. Hope to head back down to the Adirondacks later in December.

I have to update my earlier response....December ninth!  Got out today and hooked into a mess of trout - it was a great start to the season and a beautiful day.

Won't be til the middle of Dec. once deer season is over.  I never give up the chance to sit in a tree stand and take another deer.  Deer steaks all Winter and Summer long on the grille.
