Drifter that's a good omen for a diehard ice man such as yourself. Looks to have come from Beaver Dam Wi. Birthplace of the the worlds best tip-up...imho. i have dozens of them and have been using them for 50 years. Enjoy

It's spent the last 20 years as an ice rescue vehicle in WI. ;D
FYI, hovercraft fly above the surface not on it. It's levitated on a cushion of air. ;)

Was gonna put my depth finder in.
Then figured out it won't read when running as the 'ducer is a foot above the water!!! :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

What a great score Dave, it should be a lot of fun and useful. You can always use the Navionics App to read where you are then
set down on the water to read your depth finder. Won't propel when sitting in the water? :thumbsup:

I'm an hr away from BD lake and have spent a lot of time out there. I haven't heard of too may rescues out there, so it was probably lightly used.

T'was $9,700 US.

You won't have to worry about gas holes, pressure cracks or bad ice with that. You'll be ice fishing before the rest of your crew.

No need to license it up here.
Not like I'll be driving it around town. ;D
Range is about 120 miles or so per tank (9 gallons).
It uses 3 gallons per hour on average.
Throw a couple of Jerry cans in the back and you could go far and wide. :)

Drifter-016 , glad you had a safe trip quite a journey to obtain your hovercraft. A couple questions for you why did the fire dept. get rid of the vehicle with so few hours of use and where do you plan to store the hovercraft . Looking forward to photos or video of you out enjoying the new toy.

They sold it due to age. It's 19 years old.
They wanted newer tech and their new one handles better because of it.
It was also $85,000!!!!!
I have portable garages for all of my goodies.
A new 12'X24' round top goes in next weekend for the new craft. ;)

Gonna be able to store the boat under the deck, quads and sleds will fit in the basement and the hovercraft will go in a 12'X24 portable garage like the one I'm puttin up this weekend. Maybe this one will just get moved out there and I'll put a new cover on it. ;)

Yup, I like to keep my toys in top shape.
Currently have my sled and it's trailer in a 10'X20', My boat in a pair of 10'X20' connected end to end for a 10'X40' and have my little 250cc skidoo and Zodiac in a 10'X10'.
12'X24' is going up @ the house this week. It will be replacing the 10'X20' and the sled and it's trailer will park in front of or behind the boat depending on season in the 10'X40' garage. Got an 8'X8' wooden shed with my augers, bikes, small OB motor, ice hut etc in it too.

I am. I live in an industrial area. I keep an eye on things so crooks don't mess with their stuff. ^_^

After way more work than I expected the new 12'X24' home for the hovercraft is up and finished!!!
Even fired her up today. She runs mint!!! Next project get the boat ready.

I put up exactly the same temporary shelter at the new cabin site this winter to store building materials (used logs to hold it down), definitely "Canadian posh". The new toy should be fun!

Dave It looks like you may need to put Tennessee Go Fasters on the back of your two vehicle seeing the tire splash on your new toy.
Knowing your are in Canada you probably do not know what they are. They are full length mud flaps all the way across the back of the vehicle. The Tennesseeians thought they made their vehicle look like it was going faster.

I think it fared quite nicely considering I towed it 2,500 miles.
The 15 miles to the lake should be much less messy. ;D

To be honest I haven't used it yet.
Have been doing a bunch of work on it and the engine is currently on the shop floor.
Had an issue with the flywheel and a bad pilot bearing.
It should have been put back together but I have been dealing with long COVID since last January and can't muster the energy to do much of anything.
At this point I don't even know if I'll be well enough to get it done this spring. :'(

Hope you are feeling better Dave! Been a long struggle with this one.
Have to admit, saw this thread pop up and thought - he bought another hovercraft??? Then, looked at the dates of the posts and its the original one.
