Looks easy enough to build...  Has anyone ever use a submerged light icefishing?  Does it make a difference?

I have used a green light ..for crappie ice fishing ..not certain it made much difference as the spots I do nite fish tend to produce regularly  ..but it does work in the open water season to draw in plankton > minnows> fish in the summer I have noticed ..quite easily . So in theory it should do the same for ice fishing. I tried the Berkley  AA battery operated model and another brand with battery clips ..both seam fine while on the ice but water must of got into them at some point and corroded them up  . I am looking for a new one to replace them . .Neat glow under the ice is kinda neat.
