If we don't get a ton of rain tomorrow and high winds the lakes might be ok is weekend. There was 6-9 inches of ice in dupage county Saturday. Fingers crossed

Not much ice left here around Springfield. After Tuesday it will all be gone. Upper 20's and 40 for 10 days. Looks like ice season is gone down here. Very depressing.

We had 7" of ice here on Saturday but sunday rain and today was in the 4o's and tomorrow there talking about 60's!!!!!! :'( :'( :'( I had hopes that the ice would make it to thursday when the high is 18 and low 2,but I think it will be done or so unsafe you will not want to chance it. Major bummer I was hopeing to fish through Feb.

Sorry I lost my faith in that we will have safe ice around here.  20-30 m.p.h. High Winds, and rain up to 2 inches

QC ice was it or miss last night. 10 acre pond had 3-3.5" last night. 1 minute drive down the road smaller pond had 5.   we hit our normal spots there and didnt see a mark.

I'm sure after today the ice will be done for the year. This just stinks. U wait all year for this and it is shorter each year. I guess I need to invest in a boat!

One spot sat was 12" of ice, another a buddy went to was 14.5" of ice here in the QC. It should hold on, but will be crappy for a while.

Matt, may be home on Saturday if you wanted to buddy up. Went to the pond last weekend with the gf and it had atleast 8-9" then. I would think we would be ok...

just a setback. the last spot i fished on saturday had 11" of ice. this rain is going to get rid of most of it but it wont likely be all gone. weather forecast isnt bad coming up here.
wednesday night low of 9
thursday high of 15
thursday night low of -1
friday high 11
fridaynight low of 8.

there very well could be limited access again by the weekend to a few spots without getting too ballsy.

Just a thin sheet at most of the pits around here now, two good days this year , three last !
Boy what i would like to do Mother Nature right now?
Hoping next temps drop , might take another week or so, maybe we can get back at it!
Was out in the sleet and rain the other day, fishing two poles , Damn sometimes i could'nt keep one in , they kept coming and coming .
Nice 12" crappies, 8-9" gills and green sunfish, sorted a bunch, but when the bite is on , you stay.
Got soaked well, the Natural resource guy sat in his truck and watched me , for about a half an hour or so.  beeped his horn and waved just before
 leaving, shaking his head.

Only got out once this year. One time last year as well. Probably averaged +25 times a year before 2011. Starting to get spooky, might not even have winters soon. lol

Hoping that the low-teen weather for the next couple days will help us... one can only hope, right?

Got your text last night, and yeah you're right. With the vast amount of rain and snow to top it off, I would think even the small ponds might be a bit scary.

We did not get that much around the QC. The pond in the back yard only has 3" of water on top and still about 8" of ice. Looking out the back window I dont think we even got an inch of snow, I can still see grass. I doubt any of the snow stuck to the ice, should have melted into the water on top and made slush. Some of the places that had over 8+" of ice would probably be safe by this weekend if you can get past the first 10 feet. Might need a couple 2X6s.

Maybe by Sunday we'll have fishable ice again. At least for a day or two, before the 50 degree temps hit... :-\ :'(
