Brook Stickleback
« on: Feb 20, 2018, 01:22 PM »
So I was out fishing on Rago Monday (in the rain). On my way out I popped into Kelly's on the corner of Rt 80 and 20 and picked up some shiners for the tip-ups and fatheads to tip my spoons and jigs. Well, mid morning I was changing lures and reached into my bait bucket, scooped up what i thought was a fathead, and got a major surprise when a few sharp spines dug into my fingers!! Anyone run into these mixed in with their bait? They're pretty nasty.

We had a few in our bait this last weekend as well. Definitely an unwelcome surprise!

I found the same thing up here in Rochester!
I imagine that a lot of these bait shops get their bait from the same suppliers.

I have found this several times over the years. Sounds like it is getting worse though. I know our bait gets tested but just exactly does it get tested for? Disease for sure, but what else?
