Suicidal walleye
« on: Jan 08, 2013, 07:42 PM »
This past Sunday my fishin buddy and I were on the local lake doing some ice trolling trying to find some fish. Probably 5 hours into the day with only a few fish we hit the mother load school of walleye and they were feeding bigtime!!! All you had to do was drop a jiggin rap down the hole and there would be 5 or 6 marks racing toward it. I had a limit of 5 in 5 drops of the rap, a total of less than 3 minutes, I do not keep walleye but we gauge everything by catching the 5 for a limit, we followed this school around for a couple hours and between the 2 of us we caught and released over 70 walleye ranging in size from 13" to 24". This was the best day of walleye fishing through the ice that either of us has ever had. Best part we were the only two guys on the school most of the others on the lake were in one of the giant groups because that has to be where the fish are biting!!!

Dang. If I wear you I would write down everything about the day. From cloud cover to barometric pressure. Maybe that had to do with it. Next time those conditions come make sure your back out there!

I have a couple pics with some laying on the ice but we were not keeping so there isn't a picture of a big pile of walleye
