Walleye Depth
« on: Dec 18, 2012, 06:35 PM »
How deep do you think the walleyes are? Thinking about going out to a good spot. Nice reef at 8' and another good one at 16'. A 23' zone is very close to the 16' reef. The lake bottoms out at 25'. Would it be best to go at 8' or 16'? Will be fishing from about 2 or 3 until sunset.

They move hour to hour, day to day. Your going to have to go out and find them and check all the depths. Every lake is diffrent ,every structure is diffrent.

I agree with appleye

If you are going out at 2 or 3 and fishing to dark drill a bunch of holes covering out into the basin as well as up on the reef, you wont want to be drilling holes in 8FOW when its prime time...  I would start out deep and try to follow them up onto the structure.  They will move shallower and become more aggressive as you lose daylight.
