Title: Best inland lake for perch?
Post by: Fishondog on Dec 07, 2006, 06:15 PM
Where do you all fish for perch through the ice? Planning a trip and am looking for other lakes in the Fletchers area. I fished Ess lake once and caught a lot of small ones. But looking for tips on other lakes in area.

Fletchers has pretty good Perch fishing. Or try Lake Avalon in Hillman for some Splake.

I did real well on Burt lake last winter, but it took a long time to find them and figure them out.  Nice thing was no one fishing within over a mile from us.  Pere Marquette, Pentwater, White and Muskegon Lakes all get a decent run of Perch in the winter too.  Not like the old days, but seems to improve every year.

In the fletchers pond area you have Lake Avalon and Beaver Lake, in the Alpena area you have Grand Lake or Long Lake.

Jacks Landing or Bills on M-32 should have bait if you don't feel like hauling it.

I look forward to geting on Higgins for some Perch, but it's a tough one to get frozen some years.  Often too much snow by the time the ice gets safe.
