Checked there this after noon before checking chuck and then Brady’s no go on leaser lots of open water some ice by south launch but a lot of open water saw a truck towing boat checking it out also but the ramp area had ice lol need more cold days and nights to get it set

checked it this morning....About 3.5 near shore.  down to 1.5 about 30 yrds from shore.  Obvious wet seams across the lake.  Not yet, but soon if the snow doesn't hurt too much.

Thank You another big mistake by fish commision should have waited with the trout and musky til the pan fish and bass were established  use to be really good lake don t know if it will ever recover

 It was a great lake back in the day - good walleye and musky, lots of bass, panfish were tuff but better than average size. Never fished cats but saw quite a few on beds in among the old stumps. Oh and a few nice pickerel too.  There were no stocked trout.

 Sadly with all the press it's gotten over the 2 drainings it is no longer "under the radar" and will be hammered as soon as C+R is lifted. I would like to see slot limits tested on the lake along with reduced creel limits for all speicies.

I agree with that hope they don't put in their big bass program I think that ruined mauch chunh lake soon as a bass is around 15  people keep them

 Has anyone bought the new map of the lake ?  I walked most of the dry lake with my GPS just wondering what the map looks like. Contour lines/creek channels/old structure or just the new structure locations ?

apologize, got sidetracked with the flintlock.  Found ice from 3.25 that cracked a bit when checking, up to 6" of solid black ice.  Fished a bit but it was very slow.

By the way...When the fish commission placed the wooden structure, it became too dry waiting for the water to re-fill.  Caused a bunch of structures to float and move about until water logged.  The structure map on the fish commission (lake section) website may not be completely accurate, lol.

The plan was solid, give the credit there. Placed them statically across the lake bottom, fantastic!  Only went awry went they started to float away.  Who knew???

for muskies ive caught them any where from a few feet of water to over deep water. the only thing ill say is keep your baits in either a few feet off the bottom in anything less than 15ft of water and in any deeper water keep the baits suspended at 15-20ft. look for points and creek channels that will funnel baitfish and crusing muskies to up your chances but they could be anywhere in the lake

Also, quite a bit of branches and shrubs grew up when the lake was dry.  If your near the bottom or close to shore you may loose a few on the snags.  They dive after grabbing the bait.  I've caught them everywhere.  When they are hungry, you'll know.
