Transducer question
« on: Dec 10, 2017, 10:26 AM »
I have a lowrance hook 4x that i use for my kayak.  Do i absolutely need to get an ice transducer to use it on the ice, or will the normal transducer work?  I have it mounted to a scotty transducer arm, so it's pretty stable, i'd just have to rig something to hold it in the ice.

If it is anything like the normal transducer that comes with the Garmin Striker 4, it will work through the ice, just have to make sure it is stable and level. I would think the ice transducer would just make it easier. Hope this helps.

My dad use to use one. He made a holder out of PVC. Just set it in the hole and fish.

I started out with an old H bird with the transducer mounted to an old tip up. Yes it will work, but an ice ducer is more convenient.
