Yeah humans can get a thing similar called swimmers itch. Learned about it first hand building a duck blind a few years ago without waders on. Landed my buddy a trip to the hospital..

Erythematous papules on the exposed areas of a swimmer. Cercarial dermatitis (swimmer's itch) is a skin rash caused by an allergic reaction to an infection with certain microscopic parasites of birds and animals.

My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Tight lines and be safe.

I guess I'll stick with deep water perch.

As a Mainer that fishes Maine, yellow perch compete heavily with brook trout at times and have hurt native populations of both trout and smelt.  Where I live, YP populations are skyrocketing and make it difficult to icefish for other cold water species.  Many of our perch also have grubs in their flesh, while not harmful are unappealing.  That said, I keep a few "clean" ones each year and they are very good.

If you are talking about white perch, we don't normally consider them trash fish.

I too am originally from Maine.  He's got it right Mainers prefer the whites more fight and meat in them and Yellows are so abundant they wreak havoc on the trout food and reproductive chains.

They do in VT. Just about every fish in Colchester Pond has them.

have caught gills/seeds, pike/pickerel, bowfin, lmb & wallys with them.
