And in reality theres more to it than that.

Common sense has been lost by a majority of people.

For the life of me, can't understand how inconsiderate some of these clods are.

Getting to a public access boat launch at 0500 is one thing...arriving at a private access spot at 0500 is another entirely, yet it seems some of these clods think tromping through a guys yard at 0500 is "ok"...but that's just me.
Its not only common sense, these kinds of people were never taught the word respect.

Thanks for the heads up essox. I spoke to the nice lady and apologized for my folly. I  now also have permission to park there. Hmm... Here's a thought maybe the bait shop should stick to selling bait and not pointing on a map and telling you were to park to get on the ice. I'm up there to put food  in the freezer. Yesterday I did that and got to make a contact up north. Thanks again

The idiots strike again! I hope they shut it all down out there. My uncle lives on the point and he's pretty well done with it. He's putting nails in 2*4's throughout his yard. Soooo, if you dare park there he will give you his regard.

Is there any cottages or motels open during the winter in the area?  Would like to make a trip 3rd week of February.

We stayed at the Duck Away Motel before when we went up there, the people that own it are really nice and appreciate the winter business.

Reports don't sound great.  Read the Chaumont Hardware reports.

Are there any Ice Fishing Guide services for Chaumont Bay. Never fished it before and would like to go with a pro when fishing big water for the first time. Can anyone recommend a good guide and contact number? Thanks....T

check the chaumont hardware store website. Wind caused the water to rise and ripped some of the shore ice apart so let's hope this cold snap will firm the shorelines back up soon

That last ice report from the hardware store is getting old, at least a few days.  Conditions have surely changes since then.  Or maybe my PC is not getting updated info.

I think what he meant was that the information for the report was getting old... obviously he posts reports every day but I have wondered a few times myself if the information was old. I trust first hand experience... people that have actually been on the ice after a significant change in weather.

Couple of questions: You guys finding grubs in the perch fillets? Do they still buy the perch in the winter?

Sometimes, but not very often because this is a colder/deeper body of water and the fish move a lot. Grubs are normally found in fish that inhabit warmer shallower waters. They won't hurt you anyway just cut them out of the fillet if you don't want to fry them up. Don't know about selling perch haven't needed the money that bad in several years now I only keep the big ones and the rest go back in the hole for next year!!
