Minnows or Leeches?????

 Which is better leeches or minnows.  I know in open water I would choose leeches, but should I consider using minnows through the ice.  Thanks in advance.

 I would go with the minnows, during the ice fishing season. If you use a leech they are not very active in the cold water and tend to just shrink up to a blob on your hook. The minnows are more active and you can use them a live bait or frozen bait so you have more choice in your presentation. If you wanted to try something that looks like a leech I would go with the Berkley power leech, or a plane black twister tale grub.

Minnows, because in below 60 degree water, leeches ball up and are useless.
3 inch minnows are great walleye bait, you'll do well!

Leeches do ball up in cold temps. Small minnows probably work best for livebait through ice. I open water, small leeches fit on jigs with twister tails a little better than minnows and you can cut them up for scent.

I'd say minnows cause around here where I live you cant even get leaches in the winter
