Title: First time catching white perch on ice
Post by: FreshwaterPhil on Mar 16, 2020, 08:47 PM
Only a handful of lake in Quebec have white perch. Hoped to find some big schools, but they were still deep. Still managed to land 8 of them, as well as some yellows.

Just had the biggest one, very similar, slightly fishier. I'll have to try the smaller ones side by side with the yellows.

Those are some nice WP! They are actually in the temperate bass family, like white bass and striped bass, most say they taste closer to a crappie than YP.

Hit a new spot for white perch today. Took me 5 hours to finally find a few, but the quality made up for lack of quantity. At 13 and 14.5 inches, with one over 2 lbs, these bass sized panfish make me think I'm gonna need a bigger pan.

Cooked some up side by side with yellow perch. All 5 of us prefered yellows to whites.
