Bait Depths

Usually fish 2-10 FOW and hang live suckers somewhat off the bottom. What works best for you?

Live suckers or golden shinners 18" off the bottom. Depth depends on the lake

Pretty much the same sometimes go deeper than 10ft. Suckers or shiners

dead bait i drop straight down to the bottom or 6" up...live bait i keep anywhere between 12" to 24" above bottom

agree with this, although if the action is slow i may raise the level on some of my live baits, put a few higher and see if that changes the action

That's good info on the live baits. I have always ran them 6" off the bottom, but it makes sense to put them a little higher.

When a group of us get together, we try to spread the tipups throughout the water column, to see what depth works best on a given day.
