Has anyone been successful targeting lake whitefish? Any size to them around here in PG?

I know a lot of lakes got em. But I've tried with no success

I've watched you tube vids, but it would be nice to talk to 1st hand experience.

Years ago on the prairies we hit deep water(60-80 ft for there) and fish 25-15 ft under the ice for them, much like kokanee fishing

Thanks for the info

In the Great Lakes and area we fished for whitefish, and usually used a teardrop jig with either maggot or shadfly larvae(wigglers). Fished right on bottom, just jigging or lifting up off bottom, similar to walleye fishing.
