I just put the final touches on these decoys in the past few weeks and thought I'd share the pic with you guys and see what you think.
The Frog all done

A simple decoy I did pretty quickly but it turned out well

And last but not least this decoy I put alot of time in and is my favorite. I call it "the zombie gill". It was custom made for somebody but he gave me free run on the design and the paint

To me the zombie gills colors were to dull they wash out when I cleared the decoy because the humidity clouded it, so I touched it up some here is the new pics.

No from what I hear white cedar is the way to go red cedar if more fragile, and we have 320 acres that's about half white cedar, but thanks for the heads up.
If you look around the bear in the photo you can see the cedars, the photo was taken 15 min after left the site.

Holy chips yogi has been eating all those picnic baskets again, the rangers not gonna like that......

Do you bear hunt Jason, im going next year for the first time up to Ontonagon

I did that year, I have been getting points since then. Cam started taking pics 15 min after I left the tree the first night. I would go up where you are the next time as I still have friends that are local from when I went to MTU. The pic is behind my house in West Branch.

Three new decoys but there sold all ready and I was making them for me so my box is not going to be as full as expected this season.

A few more I've been working on.

Not a decoy but I carved it on a rainy morning on a fishing trip but I have to put treble hold on because the fish bite the wood so hard I can't get the hook to them.

These look awesome. Does anyone ever use decoys to draw in panfish or do they only attract predators?

What I noticed is they attract the pan fish in but then if you snap the decoy line they scatter I been thinking of making some 2 and 3" decoys to see if they can bring them in and keep them around.

the smaller decoys do attract panfish, I uses to use jigging raps for the same thing but it counts as aline if it has a hook.

I just got down sized Which was an excuse to get read of me after they found out I have narcolepsy, so carving decoys and blacksmithing is now my full time job. Im going to start carving a lot of decoys tomorrow in my blind. All with be available, worse thing im on the wifes phone because no more company phone and computer, but I can return messages it just takes longer to repond.

That sucks Jason, sorry to here about there loss. I'm really getting sick of hearing people lossing ther jobs (including me), I have a job now but who knows how many months this one will last. Workers are a nickel a dozen right now and the employers know that and take advatage.

Ya, the worst part is I got me company truck back 2 days before, so I thought I was good. 10 years and I get sick and out the door it is, but I have more time to spear now.
