Decoys or Live Bait

Do you guys prefer a decoy or a big ole sucker or other live bait?

I usually have a big shiner hanging around with my fake decoy. Some days they like live, and others they like a fake. So I guess I use each one 50-50.

In the past from what i have seen they come in fast and hit a live decoy.  not giving you much of a chance to throw the spear.  But with a wood decoy they come in slower... or come back for another shot.

I made 4 new decoys for the first time this year and I'm going to spend all winter finding out which ones work best for diffrent occasions and I'm not going to switch to live at all...........for this year any ways  ;)2 .

I like a couple small minnows on a perch spreader along with a big Bear Creek gold Pike decoy. The small fish panic when something comes in within sight. Slip that ole big boy in the hole and let's see what happens.
