wow all these home made traps i love them all . some really nice nice work out there . I love fishingwith my home made traps its just like fishing with a fly that you tied yourself . It just adds a little satisfaction .

Out for trout I have seen that post in the past and love it everytime I see it . Those have to be the coolest traps ever .

Here are my traps i made .  Mahogany uppers, rock maple crosses . I found somespring steal in mcmaster carr . Copper tubing grease tubes with trippers made from stainless steal welding rod .  The spools I made at work from solid billet aluminum .

these just have to get a bump up. too well done.   perfect way to stop the rocking on a heratige laker.  most sweet home made reel.

i'm not from maine but, the flag holder on the heratige laker needs modification no matter the fish you are after. i went after the spring holder with a set of wire cutters, file and sand paper. got them to trip with only the mildest of pressure = walleye. still not as sensitive as i'ld like but, usable under comon conditions.   no pictures just read and apply

I have to say those are the most beautiful reals I have ever seen! you guys are doing an awesome job! It's an awesome feeling catching fish on traps you made. I fish with a set my father made a few moons ago now. I have also made several sets for people over the years. Great Job!

those are nice reels...if I could find a machine shop around here that'd make 'em for me, I'd have a set of 5..or maybe 6...

A salut to fine Yankee craftsmen.

I've given some thought to retrofiting a fly fishing reel to a trap.
Look for the Jolly Roger and I'll be near!

I've found that by twisting the spring on the flag I can get it to trip either really hard or really soft.
Gasblaster those are some mighty fine looking traps, you may need to get in on your on business and give jack traps, heritage a run for their money.    ;D

i filed the release at the top where it comes to a point. i just rounded them off a little and it pulls much smoother and trips more easily.perch can trip it now compared to before it took suttin hard hitting to jerk it free

The next thing should be to get those reels anodized ! They have some nice colors and it makes for a better finish .
