Ice Fishing Video Game
« on: Jan 28, 2004, 03:28 PM »
FishBoy899 and Myself were discussing that if there was an ice fishing video game, we'd definatly buy it. We started coming up with this list of things to include:

Equipment: Various jig rods, of different powers and quality, tip ups, line of different #test, leaders, different sized treble and single hooks, flasher, shanties, lanterns, underwater camera, buckets, sleds, GPS, lake maps

Clothing: Different quality suits, bibs, coats, gloves, boots, etc...

Lures: All different sizes and colors of various style lures (jig spoons, teardrops, glowjigs, Raps, etc...)

Bait: Spikes, mousies, wax worms, shiners, minnows

Other things: Truck, 4-wheeler, snowmobile, different augers-->hand and power, in different sizes

-Money to buy gear in a career mode, along with tournies and quick play mode...

-Gain skills learning to catch and land different species, using different presentations
-Maintain health by dressing right for the weather, eating, using the shanties, and watching for bad ice.

-Fish: Bass (LM & SM), Trout (Lake, Splake, Brown, Rainbow), Pike, Muskie, Tigers, Pickeral, walleyes, Panfish(perch, crappies, bluegills, pumpkinseeds, rockbass, white perch, redears), Catfish, Salmon, sauger)

-We thought that you could start off on smaller reservoirs, and ponds, and work your way up to places like Devils Lake.

The reason I posted this is because we want to see who would buy a game like this. If we get enough replies from people who would buy it, we want to send an e-mail to a company with out idea. Please, let us know what you think of the idea. Thanks!

-Zach

Just make sure there are many species. I find it gets old on some games that ever bite is going to be a bass.

how about in career mode you start on a small lake and have to catch four fish of atleast a certain size. once you do that, you get another lake to fish with like 5 fish of a minimum size. it gets harder as you go up. just an idea.

Fishboy-We forgot about licenses! As far as the 4 fish/ lake goes...Its a good Idea...I was thinking about having different areas which you have to become more skilled in. After you reach a certain level, you advance.

I also think in the career mode you should maybe start out for small panfish and work your way up to huge pike and walleye. 8) Just my .2 cents Also you should like work your way up, like you start out as a local angler then you become a sponsored angler and then like a pro or something, also in career mode you should start out with like $350 bucks and then you have to buy everything (you don't even start out witha  tip-up), also it would be cool if once you baught an aqua vu you could go into it's view and see what it looks like down there. Alright i think im going to stop now lol

-Evan

P.S.-I would definently buy this game.

All good ideas walliceman. Trophy Bass 4, and Pro Bass Fishing 2004 had cams like that. I really liked them. And thats the idea I had with career mode. Work your way up. Right now I'd be a sub-novice, cuz Im flat broke!

We were thinking of contacting Atari. They make the newer Deer Hunter games. DH2K4 is an amazing game. If they could use the graphics engine off that, it'd be an incredible game. EA Sports hasn't had the best luck with outdoors games, but I personally haven't ruled them out. They make some awesome games.

I have a fishing game that I love. It is Field & Stream Trophy Bass 3-D. It is by Sierra.

The things I like about it are:
-Many lakes to choose from (even Mille Lacs)
-Can play a fishing trip or a tournament
-Can do catfish, pike, perch (walleye), panfish, white bass, or black bass tourney
-Many different rods and reels to choose from
-Can choose line weight
-Lots of different lures to choose
-Good lake maps with GPS
-Good sonar
-Good drag
-Game is easy to play

The only thing I do not like is the lack of live bait options.

If they took this game, added live bait, and adapted it to ice fishing I think you would have it.

The version I have is a bit old but I have never felt the need to upgrade it. It is great fun. Always something different.

Trophy Bass 4 was the successor to Trophy Bass 3-D. It's an awesome game, but the graphics engine wasn't the greatest, and even on the hardest level you can catch a fish on every cast, on anyday...no matter what the weather conditions. The lack of live-bait options is because the game is based on tournament play. There is a European game called Fishing Sim 2. That game is based on the popularity of carp and pike fishing in Europe. You can use multiple rods, with all kinds of live bait. I played it a few times. It's hard, but fun.

I understand that it is based on tournament rules. I think it is the bass tournament bias. In walleye and other types of tournaments you are allowed to use live bait.

If they are going to allow "fishing trip" play they should have some sort of live bait.

A couple of more things I like about Trophy Bass 3-D are that even on the easy level you do not catch a fish on every cast and the weather seems to affect the fishes mood.

I agree with the tournament style format. It is bass fishing biased. But then again, its Trophy BASS 4...not Trophy Bass/Walleye/Muskie/Pike/Striper/Panfish 4

Yep, it is Trophy Bass. I have learned that, in the game, I can use the plastic grubs and such and use them on the walleye and perch.

For a Bass game it sure does a wonderful job with the other species

I have learned to adapt. There aren't too many games that even offer the variety of fish that this one does.
