So I was thinking about traveling the 8 hours and do the tourney this year, anyone have any advise? Anyone wanna come with?

Come early, dress warm!

The good holes fill up fast.  Faster then I would've guessed.  My first year, saw me fishing in some serious deeps, and not a nibble.  And it may just be me, but it seems to always be extremely cold and windy on that day. 

Oh yeah, important tip.  Bring a spud!  better yet, bring 2 or 3 and sell em.  Seems like a lotta guys don't have em, and forget to bring something.  Augers are not allowed....

Having said that, it's been some of the best fun I've had up in Brainerd.  I'm planning yet another trip up there this year, but alas it's probably going to be a single day excursion, due to some complaints from the old B & C

Bring a small sled so you can drag your gear out with ya.  We brought one last year, but ended up deciding we wouldn't need it.  BIG mistake.  It's a LOT further to the tournamnet boundaries from the road than it looks.....

Be sure to bring some cash, too, for food, drinks & "trinkets" out on the ice......
