This is dozindoug, what is he doing? a) looking for his contact b) praying to the pike gods, or c) not letting a little thing like thin ice keep him from getting his tilts back

Dont worry he was under close supervision

if you look close the ice was sinking at his tilt.

I hope you caught fish while you were trying not to swim, man!

My father broke through yesterday as we were leaving. Went in just past his knees and bounced right back up faster than a superball. No more ice fishing for a few months. Unless we go out west next weekend so he can fall in two weekends in a row...

man i gotta tell you seedog, i have been ice fishing for well over 20 years now and have to say that is some crazy s#*t there.i couldn:t enjoy myself out there like that.i love ice fishing more than life itself but couldn:t put myself into a situation like so.hey doug, did you at least nail a fish for your effort. glad your alrite and safe. and i thought i was HARD CORE!!!!

BIG difference between hardcore and stupid. Sportsmen/Sportswomen get knocked around enough in the media- one could only imagine what would be put in print if you went in the drink. Smarten up guy's- you want to be able to see next season, don't you?

Good we are all glad that is the perfect size to keep, it will allow more bait for the bigger ones to get bigger. Thanks for helping the fishery!

So I was waiting for you....

Before you make 'stupid' posts like that, you need to learn the facts!

1. The water is 4' deep or less where Dozin was
2. BigBry was completely prepared. Rope in hand, floatable blown up, cell in hand (although there was VERY little chance he would have needed that)
3. These guys have probably fished more hours/years than you will ever dream of fishing
4. Those tilts needed to come up for next season
5. the ice where Bigbry was standing was 6-7 inches black.. slight honey combing but totally fine

No stroking going on here! Just a bunch (50+) really good fishing friends, extreme and very knowledgable, who fish together ALL THE TIME! and many (100+ who are friends but have not yet been able to hook up and fish together.

You can post anything you want... but beware... there ARE guys out here that are NOT rookies!

I brought home 3 25" pike and fileted them up.. they are really good ! Aren't they!

They are just upset, that all the ice will be gone in a few days.
then they will have to use real skill to fish until the ice comes back next year..

Good advise there vonmoe! YA PIDS (Post Ice Depression Syndrome) has set in! There is no ice left! hit the salt this past weekend for 15lbs of nice fresh COD fillets!

NO ICE IS SAFE,usually most is but common sense does come into play,under the condition posted if they choose the get wet or worst it's there choice,I myself don't like extremely late rotton honeycomb ice but to each his own.

Good for you keeping the pike .
You have the right to do what you want with the fish. i personally have no problem with that.

As far as this group is concern, I am also a newcomer and unfortunately I have had a chance to meet only a couple of the members and let me tell you they are a bunch of great fishermen and people.
They have welcomed me with open arms, even though we do not always agree on every topic.
There is a proper way to voice your opinion without sounding offensive.
I don't think you should let this incident deter you from becoming a good standing member of the Mass Ice Shanty
