Head north, but be very careful.
If you are hitting a new pond, you need to be very careful entering and exiting because with temps on the rise, the safe (?) ice you crossed on the way out may not be safe (or there) when you leave.

With that, I will also mention that for a slightly higher possibility of finding a safe entry point, see if you can get on the ice from the north/west side. The ice MAY be a little thicker there. That doesn't mean it WILL be safe, just that it may be your best bet. Once again: BE CAREFUL!

At this time of year, the ice on ponds will be slowly and surely eroding, but since most northern waters had over a foot just a week or so ago, there should be enough ice IF YOU CAN GET OUT ON IT.

I am thinking of heading up towards Dracut, Tyngsboro, Amesbury areas.
Mascopic Lake, Long Pond or Lake Attitash are my first choices, but things could change before the weekend.

Well today there was about 8". Last time for us. With all the water running today sunday would be chancing it. 21 perch and a small mouth wasn't bad for the last trip.

Plugs in Haverhill was ok today about 10" of ice mostly snow ice.  Water was running in holes but the erosion was minimal. Alot of honeycombing going on from the heat at about 2.  65 degrees. You could see the heat waves over the ice weird. It looked like a mirage.  I wouldn't wander out to far without the proper gear and a backup person. Chisle your way out to test the ice. Snow ice is tricky.
Got two rainbows today near shore. Might give it a try in the morning.

Be Careful put there

My brother was out on round pond in Haverhill yesteday as well....still 10 inches and fished in a tshirt and jeans.  I'd call it quits pretty soon though!  I know my gear is packed up!
