Post by: Talls92 on Jan 11, 2013, 06:13 PM
Wondering if anyone makes their own spring bobbers and if so what do you use? Where can I find the material?

I used 174# afw tooth proof wire to fix a rod I broke the tip off. Its better than it ever was before I brokevit. Very easy, I didnt use a bead. Attached to rod with electrical tape and heat shrink.

Bic lighter springs are the best. Cheap too!

Guitar strings, high 'E' acoustic diameter is .012   electric is .010. I use a 'z' bend which is open,so line doesn't go through it, and when you catch a fish the line flips off the bobber. You get 5 or 6 bobbers out of each string. If you are using heavier jigs just go with bigger strings.
You can't use the wound strings.
