How is the ice holding up on the lake? Has the fishing picked up at all?

I'll let you know, checking after work today. Everything I've heard has been good, but be careful. I took the weekend off from hitting the ice went after the eyes on the river and limited out....also slammed some big perch...that's some of my favorite fishing ( winter river floats) for eyes...but I'll be back out on the hard stuff Friday...take a cold Sat/ maybe Sunday off and hit her again Mon. Just had to refill the freezer with filets, been given away the ice crappies

Going to be coming down Friday with my wheeler, any problems with the ice? Will stay away from north of the islands, heard that's not great. Any other issues?

The shoreline was soft on tuesday and the cracks and soft spots are snow covered...it was 50-60 with rain and a river running in last week so you might vwant to give it the weekend unless you know the res well

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll come down without the wheeler and look around first. Then if it's OK come back next week to ride around.

I fished the lake two days last weekend. One day way north of the islands. Every where I drilled I got 7" of good ice. I live and work in Whitney Point and can tell you that we didn't have the weather to lose any of that ice during this past week. I saw a Wheeler driving all over around the islands last Sunday. With this cold we're having I'm sure it will add more to that 7". If I used a Wheeler I'd have it on the lake this weekend.

We fished in the upper end above the islands also last week after the rain. No problems accessing ice and ice was slick with 7 to 8 inches. The rain didn't hurt it at all like some people think, seems like some are new to ice fishing or dont know what they are talking about. The ice there has been the best in the area. Yea the part where the river dumps in is open of course as usual.

Dress warm guys! And keep the heaters going in them shanty 20 Mph winds chills sat and Sunday gonna feel like -25. Won't need to ice the beer

might need to keep them near the heater, otherwise, beer slushies!

Has anyone fished the channel on the RTE 26 side before it coils over to the dirt road? Years ago we used to do pretty well over there. It's a long walk

Yes gets even tougher later in the ice season. I will get to make it back out there later this week.

we've had our best luck in the 16-17' range. There's 20fow up there but the bit shallower water worked for us. I even got a couple walleye suspended 6-7' off the bottom.

Last week was really tough with the water so cloudy, couldn't find hardly anything on the pond. Was on the pond this afternoon, got a few gills and a few small crappie in 16fow. Water is clearing up. Marking a lot of fish , just not biting like 2 weeks ago. But at least marking them again! 9 inches of ice and building all day

Another inch of rain.......can't catch a break with the dirty water!! The lake is up just over 1 foot since yesterday. Let us know what you see BigAl

I went to the park and as I suspected the lake is up. Some minor flooding in the park. Ice looks good with no water on top but water along the edges. The spillway is dumping out pretty good so hopefully that will help lower things back down. Only time will tell if it will be fishable this weekend.
