We plan on heading up that way tomorrow morning. How has the fishing been up that way? Was it me or did the water seem cloudy and merky today.

I was wondering what all the sirens were for, thank god he is ok.  Boy was the ice making ice today, loud as hell! We fished out of Dorchester from 6am till like 2pm. 2 of us and we ended up with 1 monster gill and 2 huge perch( biggest I had ever seen there)

Me and a buddy were also out about 6:00 to 2:00. Cloudy water and didn't pull up any fish. Still a nice day to be out on the ice. Definitely bring cleats if you go Sunday.

Unless the plans change I'll be back tomorrow. After the luck I had today I don't have any idea where to go. The fish have been evading me for a couple outings now.  :(

It was frustrating! Seeing them streak up on the flasher and then turn around like I was offering them spam instead of steak. Maybe the rain and murky water had some play in the foul luck.....

Yes the dead Sea comes alive once in a while. Wasn't my weekend though. I got skunked both days.  :(

The dirty water is hurting us....Got  a few today......drilled a lot of holes to find fish that would bite.  Lake is still dropping, cracking along the east shore was pretty intense!!!   :o

Our crew drove right past Whitney point lake and headed north to Papish pond. The decision to try our luck here paid off with some steady fishing. We set up shop on the noisy 6 inch ice this morning and had a busy morning chasing tip ups. Pickerel dominated the day with a few nice size ones. A few small perch and one gill were landed as well. This small body of water is what we needed to get some confidence back and the rod to bend not to mention see fish on our machines! Will be back on the point again soon I'm sure. A link below to the NYSDEC website on papish pond provided below.

The channel has 7" plus wherever I drilled over the weekend. The north end where river comes in is open. That's where the ice boater fell thru on Saturday.

The only thing worse than actually ice fishing Whitney Point, would be dropping anything worth more than ten cents down the hole. lol - I would rather pick rotten fruit with my X wife's parents. Good luck fellas!

No, not really. I used to fish Ice fish WP with a passion. Something changed, something is off. Something aint right. It's been that way going on a dozen years. I know LOTS of guys who won't go near it..Can you find fish? Yes, I am sure. And good for you guys who put the time in and find them. I have been driving to the ADK's for trout, Salmon and lakers this winter. It's something new and different and at times frustrating. But I love it

There was also open water near the east shore just north of the islands.... about 60 yards from shore.  I didn't go close enough to see if it was a series of gas holes or a large crack.  I was on about 5 in of ice over there.

Be careful if we get snow covering the ice.
