I do it a lot more than I will admit...

part of it is just playing with the reels to make sure they stay functional and smooth.  Then I try to remember which line I've got, or maybe swap things around and see if it may suit a better need. and so forth...

and reading these forums over and over again...I'm surprised by what I find the second or third time I read it again.

Geez, I thought maybe I was the only one! My younger Brother thinks I’m obsessive/compulsive over ice-fishing, but he’s never even tried it before! What would HE know?

Since I live here in central Ohio I don't have to practice in the living room. We do dock tournaments at a local reservoir. We're not allowed to cast so most of us use our icefishing equipment. Twenty five foot of water so it makes a good time except when the fish have lockjaw. It's a blast working those fish off the bottom and having them follow the jigs up and slamming them. It's great practice before we get ice.

I have set up my gear and reset my gear over and over and over again.

Keep going down my basement, taking out my ice rods from the storage case, testing my electric drill over and over again.  Sad isn't it?

I just cant wait either! I set up my shack on one side of the garage sit inside it with my spear and put a tip up on the other side of the garage and look out the window for a flag.

There are so many good fishing opportunities right now before ice up! I cant believe how many of you guys dont fish open water in the fall. What a waste.

I used to Steelhead fish, but the drive is too far, and too costly for me now. Not owning a boat, I have a hard time finding productive fishing waters. A good portion of the lakes around here are smaller, and most are becoming privatized, or difficult to fish without a fishing vessel, so actually, I stumbled back into ice-fishing, and I’m darn glad I did!
