Atv travel
« on: Jan 10, 2015, 05:57 PM »
Hi all, work has got me occupied this weekend but ready to head out Monday first thing in the St.Albans area on Champlain providing there is plenty of safe ice for atv travel.  Can anyone tell me if its safe and where I can travel on the lake, ice thickness.  Was thinking Maquam shore or around Kilkare somewhere if acessable.  Thanks a bunch!  Can't wait to cut some holes!

It was 6 inches in ST A bay today, I would give it another week before taking an atv out.

I was concerned about only walking out Monday.  The ice may be getting thick but the wind that we have had lately can make things move around and open up in spots.  Not a surprise I want to experience.

always good to double check. but it would be my understanding that if you are registered in ny you should be fine in vermont. if your car is registered in vermont you can still drive it in ny. Registration for a boat is the same way.

As it reads in the V.S.A

(e) An all-terrain vehicle owned by a person who is a resident of any other state or province shall be deemed to be properly registered for the purposes of this chapter if it is registered in accordance with the laws of the state or province in which its owner resides, but only to the extent that a similar exemption or privilege is granted under the laws of that state or province for all-terrain vehicles registered in this state by a resident of this state. (Added 1983, No. 240 (Adj. Sess.), § 1; amended 2001, No. 75 (Adj. Sess.), § 11; 2007, No. 76, § 33b; 2009, No. 50, § 80.)

As long as you are registered in you're state you do not need to in vt as well.

I just got a message from VSP , they said if your state has a reciprocal  agreement with VT you are good to go. That being said you will have to call the DMV in VT and check .

This is correct. That is why NH Registration is no good in Vt.You need both to ride in each state.NH is DOES NOT have a Reciprocal Agreement with Vt.

I like how I ask a question that ends up being answered by one then follows on a totally different subject matter
