Kent Pond
« on: Jan 04, 2015, 04:13 PM »
Fished Kent Pond for the first time Saturday. Fishing was okay. Handful of perch & couple smallies. Long drive but it was fun.
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work

A little confused about ice fishing on Kent. What i read you cannot ice fish there according to the F&W book. There is no open season for ice fishing.I thought that it was closed trout waters. It says Table 2 laws apply.Just to let you know Grampy.

I just did not see any dates for any species during ice fishing.Like i said before,i always thought it was closed trout waters.I read table 2 5 times and ice fishing is nowhere in it for all species in Kent Pond.It don't matter to me i just hate to see some get nailed for it.I don't know why you would want to fish in a pond where all fish are illegal to keep.Especially the price of Bait.  ;D ;D  I realy would like to know either way.

In the index for lakes and ponds it says table 2.  Applies to KENT POND.In table 2 it says yellow perch, crappie all year. Bass closed trout too. You can also fish sunfish and bluegill if they are in there.

I know for a fact it used to be illegal. Similiar to other trout ponds in that area like Colton. So I think that law has changed in recent years. Good luck!

Closed trout waters are the ones that say Table 5.  Fishing only allowed 2nd Sat in April to Oct. 31st for most species. Even that has exceptions such as Crystal Lake (allows ice fishing).

Kent Pond is a Table 2 and when you look at Open Seasons for perch and crappie and it says all year, and under Legal Methods it says Angling, Ice Fishing, then you can ice fish for those species there.

2005 was the first year that you could ice fish Kent Pond and 2006 on Colton Pond.
