Title: Mystery on the Ice- Fluorescent Green Mystery
Post by: BomoBrown on Feb 20, 2018, 06:15 AM
So I was walking around on Bomoseen last night and I came upon a spot were the snow was intensely bright fluorescent green.   There was some dead bait sitting in the snow as well.   It looked like some one had poured some Day Glow chemical on to his bait so it would be vibrant under the ice.

Any one have any thoughts as to what it was?

Is it legal?

Is it ethical?

Does it work?

Thanks!

In some of the stores around here they sell night crawlers that are bright green. Not sure what the chemical is but I guess it’s legal here.

Bait dye. If it’s non-toxic, I’m ok with it other than making the ice look like crap. Also, we need to consider the wildlife that feed off left over bait on the ice. However, I’ve never needed help from fluorescent dye to catch fish. I think it’s moatly a gimmick whether it “works” or not. Kind of like most fishing gear, it catches a lot of fisherman.

just a thought... anti-freeze? Some dope might want to keep his bait from freezing or maybe he wanted to poison something. I might have called the law if I saw that.
