Live bait?
« on: Jan 24, 2017, 08:58 AM »
I'm new to ice fishing in Colorado and was wondering what the regulations for live bait are, I understand it will vary from body of water to body. I just can't find any information about it.

On the Eastern side of the Continental Divide no Live Minnows above 7k feet. On the Western Side no Live Minnows allowed. If you have more questions ask here. Other then this rule most other bait is allowed.

As Lefty says, minnows are what they're trying to control in the mountain lakes. You can still put a mud puppy on a hook anywhere if you're chasing Northerns. Grubs, bugs , crickets, leeches and worms are still golden. It's pretty easy to catch trout on artificials anyway.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.
