« on: Nov 26, 2011, 09:15 PM »
Ok boys lets pick a date I can't wait. Have all my stuff ready to go!

I am guessing Dec 17th.

Last year I was on the ice on Dec. 3rd.

Last year in the Quad Cities, we got out for the first time on Dec. 9th.  The water temps here are 44 degrees, last year this time they were 35.  I'm guessing it will be Dec. 16th before we get out.

The weekend of Muzzleloaders season has been the day for me. Even if it is to a shallow little canal in LaSalle.

December 11th I will be ice fishing in 4 inches of ice over 3 feet of water.
If I had a penny for every time, people thought they would get rich from getting pennys for every thing they claim they do or hear, over and over again, I would be richer than Richy Rich.
HUH?

Looking like after Christmas before we'll be on good ice here in western Quebec. Daytime highs well above zero celsius, nighttime lows hover around freezing. Not even a snowfall that stuck around yet.

its going to be a late one compared to the last couple of years. we are out on the water alot duckhunting on the fox chain and normally we would have to start breaking ice by now or at least see some glassing over. none of it yet. i think i will be able to get a full duck season in on open water which doesnt happen often.

the back section of the south bay on channel lake was glassed over all day today. we'll see what happens. they are talking mid 40s tomorrow and 40 on sunday. if the wind stays down there may be fishable ice fairly soon. if not i will keep waterfowling until i run out of season

i live just off the south bay of channel lake. i used to live on fox lake. typically the big early ice rush on the chain is to the T channel and neilsens channel on the river as those areas freeze first that everybody knows about. spring lake is a crap shoot depending on current. if we get alot of rain prior to freeze up spring lake may need more time.  we will see. the ice is the same but it is different every year.

I fish Geneseo 2nd weekend of December or so last few years thinking maybe not this year. 50 deg rain tonight and tomorrow.

we bow fished channel lake a lot last year its freaking loaded with some big musky and a crap ton of walleye man we would shoot 100 carp and see just as many musky and walleye as carp  from 10 inch musky to big big musky

is there any public access to channel surprisingly we have never ice fished it.

neilson is crazy early ice that's for sure but we usually have pretty good luck there lost my phone through the ice last year few days after I got it.

Musky sound great too. Need info on where to go for parking. I'm sure their is something off 173 to pay and park. I just don't know that area to well.

look up choppers and the thirsty turtle. there is parking at both places. both places charge for parking. just about any bar on the water on the chain has parking on about every big lake. the south bay freezes early. unfortunately its been warm and raining all morning. as far as pike i wouldnt go crazy targeting them as there arent terribly many in the chain. the musky population is good but not a typical ice fishing target. i would focus on walleye as the fishery is the best ive ever seen for out there. its not like up north but catching limits has gotten alot easier the past 4 years or so. some decent fish around too. my buddy pulled a 9.5 lber through the ice a couple years ago.

Got an e-mail from Darcy (Hermann's Bar) that the thought is, neilsens channel will freeze in a 1-1/2 weeks. Thinking of going there and checking it out. If any thing, at least tip a few at Hermann's.
