I’ve always been amazed and disgusted that people will travel to some of the most beautiful places on earth that we all share to hunt, fish, hike, enjoy etc and then just toss their trash and garbage out in these very same places! I try to do my part and pick it up whenever possible.

This was my argument recently for some anti dog folks. There are certainly some dogs that should not be on the ice but I am yet to see one leave cigarette butts or beer cans on the ice. Among many other finds I once packed home a soiled diaper that someone left on the ice. It is disappointing anywhere but especially in such a beautiful state as this one.

Mt Bucket I understand your concern but to call out people like you did is not acceptable. I am a smoker and have been for a long time. Just because a few inconsiderate individuals are polluting Mother Nature doesn’t mean everyone does. I take offense to people that call me out like that and just for your knowledge I have never thrown a butt. Always rolled out a put away for proper disposal. Choose your words wisely next time and tight lines

Speaking of choosing your words wisely, did Mt.Bucket call YOU out? That's not the way I read it. I think he was calling out the unnamed person(s) that left the butts on the ice that he happened upon. Luckily, being from new york and all they probably weren't yours.

I fished three places yesterday and picked up trash at all of them .
I did score some good trash ! Someone left a almost full can of maggots on the ground !! I will feed the fish next trip out !

I don't have an issue with people smoking on the ice (as long as my Quick Fish isn't downwind) anymore than anyone drinking beer on the ice. I doubt Mt Bucket does either. But, people need to pick up their butts and beer cans and pack them out. Put your butts in an empty water bottle.

Sadly long time smokers often do not consider butts as trash. It is a dying habit but social norms like stomping butts is no longer aceptable. It’s true too that in the 70s tobacco smell was normal. Now when you smell someone covered in smoke you take notice.i think I smell more pot than tobacco these days.
