HT in-line reel mod

I have 2 of these that I really like. The price is right, the drag works fine, it reels nice and smooth, and it's lightweight. So what's NOT to like?...it doesn't free-wheel. Do any of you have experience or ideas on whether this can be modified to do so? I know it's a shot in the dark but, you don't know if you don't ask.
