?fluorescent green something on the ice?
« on: Feb 20, 2018, 06:13 AM »
So I was walking around on Bomoseen last night and I came upon a spot were the snow was intensely bright fluorescent green.   There was some dead bait sitting in the snow as well.   It looked like some one had poured some Day Glow chemical on to his bait so it would be vibrant under the ice.

Any one have any thoughts as to what it was?

Is it legal?

Is it ethical?

Does it work?

Thanks!

I bought bait once this year and the girl that I knew who was working said she put some bait additive in for me was supposed to keep em alive longer. I didn’t pay any attention and when I got on the ice and opened my bucket it was almost neon green. Can’t remember what she called it but it did leave quite a green mark on the ice when discarding my bait. Hopefully that’s all you saw and not something more toxic.  Hope that helps.

My guess is it is Fire Brine or something like it.

It’s bait dye. Pautzke and Pro Cure ( possibly others) sell it. Does work sometimes. Bait looks very bright when you put it in the water but not sure what it looks like at depth:)

It's Blinky from the Springfield Power Plant.

some bait shops gave me blue/green water with bait this year.  I would assume that its safe for the lake?

I would also assume that but do not know for sure. You would hope they wouldn’t give you anything toxic.
