Yesterday's Bite/Weather
« on: Feb 18, 2018, 10:14 AM »
Good morning all.  As I stare out at > 12" of freshly fallen snow and contemplate braving mother nature's fury again today,  I am curious as to how everyone did yesterday.  In the NW, yesterday's weather consisted of heavy, continual snow beginning around 9 am and was accompanied by a plummeting barometer...and the bite was abysmal, which puzzled me.  I normally do quite well, at least on open water, when I "fish the front" but yesterday's weather seemed to shut the bite down cold.  Did anyone around the state experience the opposite, or was my experience the norm?

I didn't get skunked but I've definitely had better fishing. Wind played a big factor in our ability to actually fish.

Well I was hoping for more of a sample to be able to compare, but that's interesting.  Titan and LC, what were ya'll chasing?  I was after perch, and when I say Saturday was a slow bite, I mean it was terribly slow.  When I go to my perch lake, I'm confident I'll bring home a mess of fish (an average being about 20 keepers a day).  After 3.5 hours of staring at fish that were staring at my lure, I threw in the towel after managing 1 keeper.

But those were perch.  I'm intrigued that KatJohn had a good pike bite.  Are some species affected by weather more than others?

Also depends where these folks are. Very few guys post their home location for some reason. Could be over east of the hump somewhere or here in W. Montana. BIG difference.
