« on: Jan 04, 2018, 03:25 PM »
Went fishing Crawford today. Caught 2 Trout and one Whale. Don't laugh at my Perch it took about 20 tries to get him and you will be happy to know he is still swimming so one day he will grow up to be someones bait

Very slow. I was sitting over a lot of fish but nothing was hitting in the school. I caught the Perch on the bottom and the 2 trout up higher.

Thanks for the update Lefty. Gonna try there next weekend. Mark any pike? Anybody there getting decent crappie or just dinks again like last year?

One guy has been having good luck getting into the Crappie.  I saw a guy the other day get a 5" and the other guy that has been getting into them is mostly catching small ones with one in the 9.5" range. So mostly 5-7".  I thought  I was over some but it turned out to be those little perch like the one I caught.

Jeff
He was a Lure size for sure. When I pinched his belly and his fins all stuck out he was a site.

Thanks for the scoop, Lefty. I will probably take the grandkids there and try to find some bigger perch.

Since the Parks Pass is good until noon tomorrow I might hit it for a few hours tomorrow. Crappie died off at 11 am.

Nice, Lefty!  You been finding a good assortment of fish out there.  I'd try it out if it wasn't a 5 hr drive from Denver!  ;D  For me, Nebraska is closer...

Dave n Jeremy n I  got into the early bite at Crawford yesterday. Lefty and his wife were already catching perch and crappie and trout when we got on the ice at 7. I had 14 crappie by 8, then the good bite went south as the sun got up. Took me till noon to finish my limit. Green tungsten jig and a Finkee always work there for me. I also caught six slimers and 3 small bass. Jeremy got 5 crappie while Dave got 8 crappie and 20 small perch to use for bait. Great day on the ice but pretty crowded for there. 30 other vehicles.

Yes the word is out and I contributed to that. But it is all good. I saw a few others I know out there but they went past us as we were about to leave.  There are so many Crappie and Perch in that lake it wont hurt it. And it was a weekend.  The last 2 times I went there wasn't but 3 other groups and I was the only one at the dam.

How are the ice conditions at Crawford?  It's been 2 years since I was there and the water/ice level was very low due to work on the dam.
