Thinking about heading to Flathead this weekend.  Has anyone been up there or in East bay espcially?

Thanks,

I know East Bay was frozen earlier this season....not sure if it still is....I've heard guys are catching whitefish and Macks in Summers Bay...

I drove around the Lake today and yes there is ice in a lot of places.  I don't know how thick and I did not see anyone on the ice.  But there is a lot of ice.
wish you many hook-ups

The perch fishing was good if you can find them. There was about a foot of ice out there. I am going to probably go on Saturday and see if I can find some fish. If you go to East Bay and see a big fat guy waddling around trying not to fall...that would be me. ;)

Somer's bay has ice and there were some guys out on it today. I will probably try it tomorrow morning.

Change of plan for me...I will be fishing Pablo res in the morning but may try and hit East bay in the afternoon or on Sunday. I talked to a friend of mine who was out there and caught an 18 pound lake trout.

The wind blew all night and most of the ice in Somer's bay broke up.  So if anybody was thinking of coming over here you might want to change your plans.

I am going to go this Saturday if the ice holds up. I may try and hit it either Thursday or Friday as well.

Ice conditions
I talked to Flathead Lake Biological Station
The University of Montana
32125 Bio Station Lane
Polson, MT 59860-6815
(406) 982-3301 Fax (406) 982-3201
and they said that the only safe ice they know of is Polson Bay in Polson (conditions subject to change depending on the temps).  Ice was unsafe or none existent from north Big Fork to Yellow Bay and Blue Bay.

I called Flathead Brewery and no ice out there from Bigfork to Woods Bay.
I talked to another friend who fished Polson Bay and caught 45 perch on Tuesday but he only kept the meaty ones for white mans lobster.  Hope this info helps.  Good Luck

Just got another tip that if you turn up to hwy 35 towards Big Fork, and check out Finley Point.  People out there fishing yesterday and today.  Info came from a marina in Polson.  Finley point is just outside of Polson on Hwy 35.  Marina number is 406-883-3636.
wish you many hook-ups

It was pretty slow. We caught a few nice perch and I lost a big rainbow.
