Pactola fishing story from today!
« on: Feb 17, 2007, 10:52 PM »
Ok a little fish story with 2 witnesses! ;)

I spot something big moving off the bottom, send the flyer with a minnow down to investigate. I get to close to depth and he the fish (laker) charges hard and rips the minnow. I set the hook and start to reel him up. About 8 ft off the bottom he spits the jig. I start cranking to see if I have bait and I see this flash following my jig. I get the jig to about where I can see it and proceed to crank it out of the hole when this Laker comes flying up out of the hole! :o I missed scooping him up out of the hole,  but did touch it. :-\ A site I've NEVER seen and probably won't ever again! It was really a neat thing to see!

pretty amazing story and im suprised with the laker doing it too. JUst today me and my dad were sitting in the shanty trying to avoid small perch so we could hook the jumbos. We would take the jig out of the way of the little ones because they were following it all over the place. So I said im going to try to catch on by hand. We were jigging perch up right into the hole. I had 3 in the hole at once and took a scoop. A nice 7" perch was caught with my hand only ;). So the next task, we jigged more perch in the hole, and we were getting them to bite off of the surface. Pretty amazing

Yes, believable...and rainbows will do that, too..earlier this winter, my partner and I were fishing a small lake for rainbows...same scenario..
was pulling my jig up to check the bait after a heavy hit...and ended up icing a 1 1/2 lb rainbow with my hands...it does happen!!
