ICE IS HERE. BITTER COLD TEMPS BRING ICE
« on: Nov 30, 2004, 11:24 PM »
Well a big ol snowstorm hit and gave us about 5" of snow in the valley and 3 feet in the mountains. Behind it was that arctic blast I've been waiting for. We have been in the low 20's for our highs this week and zero or below at night, and that is in the valley. Going to hit Island Lake this weekend for brookies, bows, and splake. Hope for some suckers for laker bait too. After that it's our annual trip to Taylor Reservoir, looking for the big macks.

...that just makes me jealous,  you must live up at North Pole and Santa is you neighboor  ;D.   because we're still in the fifties here and it's raining like crazy.  I won't winterize my boat for another 2-3 weeks I think!                      J.

I live in Western Colorado. We don't get as cold as Minnesota or Canada in the middle elevations, but our high elevations often are 40 below with the windchill or greater in the winter during the day. Hoping for some splake this weekend, though probably I'll just get brookies and rainbows.

Nice one grump,
Another Buffalo native made jealous by your fortunate early ice fishing season. If it wasn't for hunting I would be climbing the walls right now. Tight lines

Actually, it was a bit late for Manitoba standards although not as late as it can be...if it had taken any longer, I think Grumpymoe would really have been driven to some sort of madness...perhaps getting into too much homemade wine...  ;)  BTW, GMoe, we bottled the Riesling on Sunday.
