Nice to get out for the first time this year. Ice was solid. Nice to talk to fellow fishermen about their catch and what they use. Did see a nice size pike caught as well. Everyone enjoying the outdoors. See you next weekend.

Splake are sterile!!! Never seen one come out of Erie. Lakers are more commonly found in deeper waters near Barcelona, but will come shallow to feed and spawn. Caught a decent one trolling outside the mouth of the Catt this fall.
Real good Steve, we were biting this morning..we were biting this morning...

Had a pretty good bite yesterday took home 8 gills all over 8"s and one 10" perch. Didnt have to weed through to many little ones. Thinking about trying to make my way around the harbor wall out towards freezer but into the outter harbor, any suggestions or opinions?

Ok guys sorry if this has been answered but I'm new to the sport and have a fee questions, will the warmer Temps this weekend make the ice unsafe at all for sunday? And is the harbor or the ship canal a better bet for us. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The harbor is safer and we aren't going to above freezing for enough hours in a row to affect the ice. It's here to stay now.

If anything the "warm up" will help melt the snow off the top!

Icedogger17,  Take the time to walk around when things get slow.  Introduce yourself.  Just ask how they are biting and be personable.  Give a story, listen to one.  Most people are pretty cool out there. You can learn alot that way. The harbor is a great place to learn and is relatively safe when there is good ice.  Don't go out to the outside of the harbor walls until there is enough ice. Good luck.
If life were easy everybody would have one.

Freezer Queen is the industrial building on the North side of the harbor, you can walk through the gap that leads to the channel, there is a small loading channel where the ships would pull in and out,the depth is 28 fow and a little deeper.I was there yesterday and there was no action when I was there, another fisherman had a camera and no fish were in view. There is a parking lot also or you can cut through the point of land there.Hope this helps.

Fished SBH today 8-1. Bite was good. Caught probably 100. No size though. Solid 8" by the tubes. Solid 6" everywhere else. Better than sitting home or being at work. Will try again probably thurs. Good luck and stay safe.
