Honestly we were 200 yards from the island.  We walked well beyond the perch guys.   Went to Gary's to get bait, I love Gary ,  he said there was 4 inches but I measured 2 inches of ice over 58 fow.  Tough place to fish when u know its going to warm up.   It's not Gary's fault but you have to check it out at this point .  Hearthstone had a legit 4.  Sawmill has 6.  I live in downtown bolton and check frequently,  u can ask Luke Haines or Jeff Goldberg .

You have that right Andy, I was told a place didn't have ice, but I checked for myself, not only was there ice, the guy that told me no ice was there & he was supposed to somewhat of a friend. When people ask me I always say you might want to check for yourself, what's safe for me might not be safe for you. ???

I'm glad people are getting the message...We used to drill holes and the perch would jump out onto the ice!!!

There was still a big area of open water north of Long Island at sundown yesterday. Lots of cracks near Canoe Islands, a large area off Diamond Point that froze last only had about 2" and was snow covered.

Was that open water?  Last night, coming down towards bolton from up north, it looked the entire dark area had locked up.

There was a long strip that was open, can't tell in the pic. The dark ice with no snow can't be very thick.

I think the full moon is over rated! If the fish were there but not biting I could see the full moon contributing to it.  The issue is that we drilled 60 holes at assembly point with a VEX and an underwater camera and didn't see a single fish, NOT ONE!   Where are they? I have jigged thousands of them out of there in previous years.  No one addressed JADAMOS question though about the weeds being treated in the lake, is this true? There definitely wasn't even close to as many weeds as there have been in previous years.

someone said that in Lake George that they put 14 miles of mats over the weed beds to kill the Asian clams. Not sure where they were placed but could be a reason for no weeds and no fish

How far out did you go?  Looking to get to some deep water by the weekend.  I know what you mean about that mountain, it is a bi#ch both ways, although I think it is steeper on the way in.

there was black ice out there behind crown all the way across.  I imagine wednesday that will be gone.  But..  on the bright side of things it was supposed to 28 degrees this afternoon, currently its 19 in Bolton.  very light snow. about 3 inches.

I swam over treated beds in August and was surprised
How much weed growth came back.. I did notice less fish
In the areas and they seemed to be stacked on the outside edges.

By treated I mean mats.  I think when you find the
Untreated beds they should be loaded

I think he was referring the the matts they put out to control Asian clams near 14 Mile Island. ;) ;D
