I was at Anglin during the week, and there were some people driving on it, but most were getting stuck, there is about a foot of snow and then 6-7 inches of slush underneath the snow, so i wouldn't really suggest driving yet.

Are they still biting there?

Not yesterday morning--2 of us were out,got 1 walleye and,of course, a few tulibee....lots showed up on the flasher, but didn't seem interested no matter what we tried.
If you believe in barometric pressure affecting fish, then yesterday was not the day for fishing,as the pressure did a huge drop all day....at least, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Well, if you ever run out of excuses I've got the whole catalogue ready! :D
I might get to go to Spring Bay tomorrow, the Mission on Sunday, which should make up for missing all last week!

I hadn't been there since the storm and was surprised the ice thickness hadn't changed all that much, but I guess all that snow covering is insulating even with this cold weather. I would think that might prove a little dangerous on some lakes--like Katepwa ,for instance, where you have a few underground springs...guys are going to have to watch where they drive. good luck this weekend :)

Wasn't it Katepwa where those 2 old guys drove in years ago, and nobody knew they were gone till they didn't show up to get their pension cheques in the mail?
I doubt if we'll drive on anywhere if there's tons of snow...even with 4x drive.

Actually,no-it was Mission.  They were either going to, or coming from the bar and thought they would avoid the highway by using an ice road-apparently it was the old river bed where the ice wasn't as thick and they went through.....one H!!L of a way to die-those families went through a lot because they didn't find them for a long time. Never heard the pension cheque part --may have been added later for embellishment. The car had power windows otherwise there is the off chance it might have turned out different.
