What amount of ice will you venture out on. I here there is 2-3" out on most lakes. Me personally won't go on any less than 5-6".

check out the "thin ice" section on this site....its very invaluable....4 inches of clear hard lake ice will support one ton.......river ice and lakes with springs and inflow areas are very suspect....be safe....Grump

Got out on the weekend 4-5" of ice a little scary but made it. 8-10 other guys out should be lots of ice by the weekend.
