Title: Need help finding a product seen before on IS
Post by: SALMONEMIA on Aug 23, 2017, 01:03 PM
I saw something on here for sale on one of the sponsors they're kind of like heavy duty elastic rubber bands that hold a spinning reel on the Reel seat to add reinforcement I don't really want to use zip ties I know somebody on here sells them but I don't know exactly what they're called

Agway or farm and fleets should have what your looking for also ...

a dollar store funnel cut a 45 deg angle should also help you get them on the rod butt

Lobster bands maybe.  I bought a st. Croix last season and it had nothing to hold the reel to it.  I used a few wraps of electrical tape then wrapped it with hockey tape/ friction tape. It held up and is comfortable to hold.

The "official" tool is an elastrator, Wayne.
Make sure you get both nuts behind the band before you let go.... ;D

In Georgia at the moment. Plenty of castration bands down here. Seeing NH is having frost advisories is crazy. Its starting.

I've heard that the bands work well to hold the reel.  The only downside I've heard in using them is they will leave a pretty decent "dent" in your cork.  So,if you ever take the reel off, you'll have some dents in the cork.  No big deal on cheap rods, but if you've got some expensive rods, just something to keep in mind.

If you take a reel off, you'll be putting another on. Just put the bands in the same place! :woot: ;)2  :icefish:

CD that explains why you always have dykes with you just in case one of the nuts isn't behind the band and you have to cut it off.
